Noise coming from bell housing

I finished rebuilding the engine and transmission about 8 months ago and the other day I noticed a noise coming from bellhousing,the first torque converter I put in was bad out of the box so I sent it back and got another one and a new flex plate (just in case) now 8 months later I am hearing a sound that sounds like loose change in a drier or debris being sucked through a vacuum hose. Like a dull unrhythmic metallic ish but almost liquid sounding noise not so much pinging or rattling. Coming from bell housing when the vehicle is in drive or reverse sitting still with brake applied and goes away after about ten seconds to hear it again you have to shift to park then back into gear ,shifts fine no performance issues and no noise at speed or park/neutral but it defiantly concerns me. Any ideas??? can I get away with driving it for a few more weeks until I can take it off the road and pull the tranny for the third time this year.is this the famous torque converter rattle I've heard about by the way don't order from torco on eBay if this is a Tc problem that's two in less than a year I guess they don't consider the amount of work it takes to change these parts out when they oops sorry send you a junk tc

I've had a few torque converters go south on me in a few different Fords and I've never heard anything like you are describing.

I'd start with rechecking the flex plate bolts and TC nuts maybe even the bell bolts but you'll remove them to get to the flex plate anyway.

Update on noise ok it sounds like as if there were a few small pieces of metal that are loose inside the torque converter and you could imagine what that would sound like as the torque converter spins the weird thing is it only does it when it's in gear and it only last about 10 seconds and then goes away.I'm going to pull the inspection cover and the starter to check the bolts and flexplate but I feel as it is in the torque converter my main concern is would it be drivable for a little while longer without worrying too much about reliability and being stranded until it cools off a little bit outside and I can get underneath there and start pulling stuff apart

if I had to guess what it was I would probably say a loose roller from a roller bearing or a broken piece of fin from the turbine rolling around the outer part of the torque converter my question is, is it possible for this metal to get ingested in to the transmission and cause further damage

If you think it is the converter then you might be too late already.

When they go you have shrapnel every ware and it is deep in the pan.

Ok pulled the starter all tc nuts were tight upon inspection of flex plate I might of found a crack so next step is pulling the tranny flex plate is only 8 months old so If I do find the flex plate to be broke when I get it apart I think what would have caused this is when I rebuilt the engine I lost one of the spacers on the oil pan didn't think it was to big a deal because there thinner than paper


Any body know where I. Can pick up new spacers?
