2013 Explorer XLT
Hello all, My wife has a 2013 Explorer XLT and the other day she said she noticed a noise when using the defrost, and then again when using anything that deals with the climate. So yesterday I drove it and sure enough she was right. Whenever you touch the defrost, or change the temperature setting it hakes a noise. Almost like a vibrating noise. My wife described it as a noise like the Keurig coffee maker makes when it pumps water. Does anyone know what this could be or has anyone ever heard of this? Thanks.

is this a difficult or rather expensive fix?

It's behind the glove department and there are lots of videos online to assist with the swap.

There are 3 or 4 of them, some easier to get to then others. You would have to figure put which one it bnb is but I agree with above, sounds like one of the doors making the noise when it is opening/closing to direct air.

Thanks everyone. I have been watching the videos online today and it seems that the most common are on the passenger side. I'll see if i can narrow it down better.

Welcome to the Forum.
The main issue with a bad actuator is that it won't allow air to be directed to the different settings. I don't believe I've read a post with one causing a vibration but there is always a first time. As blwnsmoke mentioned, there are several actuators and the degree of difficulty in getting to them varies. There are several threads on actuator issues. Good luck.
Here is a video from one of the threads; Dual climate control problem
