Not Sure What This Is

Hello all,

I took off driver's door panel and noticed this black box attached to the inside of it. My first assumption is that is a sensor for a key fob but I'm not sure. Thanks for the help.

Power window computer? I've seen them on models with the "one-touch down" feature, but I didn't know any 1st gen Explorers had that.

Im not sure what it is, but my 1st gen had it too.

1st gen does have one-touch. If you tell me the wire colors, I could absolutely verify.

Unplug it. Your driver window will go down, but won't go back up. Now plug it back in. Everything back to normal? Then it's the window "computer". At least that was how it worked on a Taurus.

Auto down relay box thingy. haha

I had to replace mine to fix my auto down. It would only roll down a half inch or so with every press of the button, but would roll up completely fine. Got one from the junkyard and it worked perfectly.

Auto down module. My driver window also would only inch down but went up fine.

advising to clip/disconnect the black wire: this disables the auto down feature, but the window now powers down AND up!!
