ok,heres my story....i have a 93 sport with a 3" BL. thought i'd be cool so i bought some rock crawlers (15x8) with some newer tires (32x11.5) and slap them on.

well, needless to say they subbed on turns and if i hit a bump too hard, so i did some trimming and it was livable.

then, i decided i didnt like teh rock crawlers and got some 15x8 alloys and newer 32s, BFGs this time. nice tires, sloppy ride though because i need a stabilizer. still rubbed.

anywho,. i figured i wouldnt worry about it because i am getting ready to liaft another 2" via coil spacers/AAL/shackles. got back from vacation today, hopped in and ran errands and all was well.

met a friend at a restraun and thought we'd be cool and take a shortcut that caused me to scrape something (thought it was my front diffy, but i would later be proven wrong).

what happened was we cut through one parking lot, and over a big hole and across some dirt to the other lot....and upon turning and hitting that hole, i managed to work loose my tupperware on the drivers side.

sisnt think much of it. on the way home, i hear a snap and my tire aounds like it blew out.....

i managed to losen the tupperware and on teh highway, it caught the tire just so, yanked the tupperware off, bent the bottom part of teh fender, bowed the rest of the fendeer and gouged my tire through the bands, yet the tire was still holding some air.

needles to say, i utilized my 235/75 spare with my new spare tire carrier and changed it out, but now i need to replace the tire, and i should have the body work done.

what gets me is:

1) i had taked it to the dunes in this shape, with no problems.
2) i managed to only rip off the front section of teh tupperware
3) i just got these tires, and i shredded one of the lesser 2 that i had planned on using for a spare ( 2 were new, 2 wre used, and after my lift is done, i will get aligned, then i was going to replace the 2 older ones with new and have 2 spares)
4) i had just finished installing my spare tire carrier
5) i really dont give a rip about the tire, but the fendert pisses me off!

i dont have pics of the hole, but i will get pics of the tire and the fender. the tire has been hissing ever since, so it is leaking but it wasnt a total blowout (thank god!...new rims!)

Oops!

yeah, no kidding.....just when i had it looking real good. even had a nice shine with a littl;e mud on it, the clean yet dirty look!

yeah man that sucks. i guess ive been lucky cuz mine does the same thing on bumps and hard turns.

Ow that sucks

that sucks man, live and learn I guess.

btw, i think ive seen your truck at the westland mall. looks good! my buddy has a 94 or a 92 (cant remember) that looks almost exactly like your's... he's running 31's bfg at's iirc on rockcrawlers, same color of paint, but he has a tan interior and a big cb antenna. No clear corners either. He's from the canton area, dont think he's on this board though.

you probably have seen me. i work at westland mall....jcpenney shoe dept. i have seen a few exs around town the same style and color and one dude tried to flag me down but i was in a hurry....but none that i saw had rock crawlers or a CB...btw, i dont have rock crawlers any more....i have alloys which was one of my worries when my tire blew.

ok, so i went and got the tire replaced today....i got both front done, and i kept the opther (RF) as a spare, and i got a new rim to match my others and a set of open-ended caps mounted and balanced and siped and warrantied for $438....ater they medd up and double charged both my credit cards...nonetheless, i got the tire sit taken care of.

as for the body work, i asked to ust straighten the fender and replace the trim piece and my body guy said he had to estimate the price of the piece because the sealer was closed, so assuming it is $25 for the trim piece, he quoted me $168 for the body work.

ok, so i got the work done today.

total cost tto me:

$155.32 for the fender fix and tupperware,
plus the tire (boght 2 new and a rim and had all 4 spied for like $438)

total: this was a $593 boo-boo. it isn't perfect, it still sticks out like less than 1/4" but thats the best that could be done.

yeah, but why not? i ran on them un--siped for a week or so and i do notice a big dif (although they did perform quite well un-siped, they do even better siped)

what do you mean by siped?

extra groioves cut into the tire for extra traction
