Nother Electric T-Case Q?

I have been searching and can not find any information on what the little red light and white button are or what they do on my t-case shift computer. All I know is my shift motor has been going south and now when you hit the magic button on the dash it don't do ****. No click no nothing. Anyone got some info on this.

If nothing else I guess that I am in the market for a manual t-case. If this happens how much of the wire harness can be removed from the electric shift junk?

Cleaning the brushes in the shift motor should help.

found this about that light:
Mine is broken too. Don't know if its on that link, but there is a trick to determine if it is the actuator motor or the electric relay that is broken. Go to the back panel where your jack is and you'll see a balck box with two wire clips connected to it. Remove the clips (flathead screw driver needed). With the ignition turned on, press the small white button on the bottom of the black box and watch for the red light. If it blinks you're motor is bad in the T-Case, if it stays solid it is your relay. My dad and I did this a couple weeks ago and found that my actuator motor was bad. We determined that it was beyond us to clean it up and try to get the contacts working again, so this summer I will be searching for a manaul T-Case for the Ex...

Switching to a manual transfer case seems like FAR harder work to me than fixing the electric one, and far more diccicult to reverse engineer. But then, that's just MY 2 cents worth.
