Or copper tubing around the exhaust manifold and down pipe

Couple problems with that tho.you gota have the truck running or hot, gota run hoses up there and lastly my pipes are all wrapped so not much heat comes off them.really im not to worried about it.it will be atleast ambient and gain some heat from the sun and sitting in a hot truck all day.if its 80* out and sitting in the truck and sun, that means it will be probably atleast 90*!

Are you looking to run as 12v or 120V water pump?

If 120V, the 1/2hp 120V water pump from HFT is pretty small and will put out 10gpm. We used to use ours as a transfer pump when we were hauling water to the house. Now that I think about it, it might have been 3/4 hp, but it was 1" in/out.

If your looking for 12v, FloJet makes as 12v one that will do up to 3GPM..

Even cheaper is those 12v marine pumps from HTF (<$40).. The one I looked at put out about 3-4 GPM at 50psi max.

Also, Switch that 2GPM shower head to a 1.5 GPM shower head. That'll get you 25% more run time on the shower...

Edit: I just looked on HFT and I don't see the same 120v pump we used before.. This one would work, but you gonna want a pressure switch so it doesn't keep building pressure.

Here is the 12v one I was looking at..

The one im looking at is at northern tool, thats where i got the tank from.they have kany models.2.2-3-4-5.5gpm all run at 60psi and have the pressure switch built in.i went by again today and im kindof lost.i know i need atleast a 2.0gpm but say on the 2.2gpm pump, would that be maxing the pump out making it run harder? I was leaning towards the 5.5gpm so that the pump doesnt have to run hard to make 2.0gpm.or you think thats just over kill?think i would like to have atleast double in case and its only $20 more dollars for the 5.5 compared to the 4.0.ps the tank was $49 for 26gallon and the 5.5 pump is $120

well im all done.came out pretty good i think:D:Di went with the 4.0gpm at 60psi.the shower runs great and so does just a regular hose sprayer,PLENTY of pressure.i also put a male end quick disconnect on the end that is inside the tank.that way i can hook my 50ft coil hose to it(inlet of pump) and run it down in the river, then put the other end(outlet of pump) into the tank.that way it will suck river water in and fill its self.;)

solved my water heater issue,i dont know why i didnt think of this earlier.just going to drill a hole and mount a 1000watt water heater element into it.it shouldn't take long at all to heat it up given that it probably be 80+ anyways to start with:D

well turns out that element wont work.ill end up getting this but for now i have something that will work.

well just a update.went on my trip last weekend and the obw worked great;)took a shower both nights.the heating element i was using took awile to heat it but worked, shower was so hot it was steaming.hahha never thought i would take a mountain spring hot shower on the side of a mountain.had plenty of water, took a really long shower and washed some pots/pans and only used about a 1/3 of the water.i did stop on the trail and filled up on shoe creek.
pic of me filling up;)lol

JD,
That's awesome! What a great idea, keeps you and the truck clean, when you want to that is. How is the level of the truck when the water tank is full?
Does it handle any different in the trails from full to empty?
Your truck is badass!

This is one of the coolest mods I've seen in a long time, great job. This would be great for drinking water also, I spend a lot of time in the dessert.

It is slightly noticeable, you need to keep it in the back of your mind that you got a little extra weight back there.probably wouldn't be as bad if I didn't have the ""on board power house"" also.I've had to add blocks and a add a leaf to help with the weight. I'm going to be pulling the current setup and putting in f150 leaves instead, the explorer ones have just about inverted.

Yep, it honestly has come in handy.they truck is completely self sufficient as long as you keep gas in the tank and batteries charged.I use the on board power at my house whenever storms come through and nock the power out;)

Where is the wood fired hot tub?! haha

Cool stuff!
