It started on my 96 Limited after I had the idler pulley go bad. I got it back to work, luckily I was only about 2 miles from it After I fixed it I was having stiff steering, at times when I turned.
I decided to drive it home tonight, on the way home it would shake violently for a couple seconds then quite. I would do it randomly, one time for almost 3 miles. the truck is still controllable during the shaking, luckily.

It has the auto ride control but I think maybe going bad because the compressor runs quite a bit after it is parked. And the check air ride system comes on after driving a while( maybe 10-15 miles)

I am wondering if anyone has an idea what could be the cause? and cure

if you had it up in the air and turn the wheels left or right, it does somethin in the P/S pump and it gives a really bad shutter when turning for several miles afterwards, it goes away

sounds reasonable but It was never up in the air. however I did drive it about 2 miles with the rack working against the pump, when the idler pulley was gone and no power accessories where working.

I've had that before, when the wrong shop aligned mine, I think the fluid gets air bubbles in it. Mine took a couple days to go completely away. I think the best thing I did was to get the front end off the ground, engine running, and cycle the wheels lock to lock a couple times.

When the idler went, did it spit the belt, and could it have got caught up in the PS pump? If so, it could be a bad pump. Just a thought.
