Odd sound..

So when my '04 XLT 4WD is running, it sound's like someones choking a cat, someone suggested it's a belt problem... any ideas? It's rather annoying.

It doesn't sound like a quick blast from a siren, does it?

Is the sound steady or intermittent? My 04 makes some (sometimes pretty loud) sounds when heater/AC doors are opening and closing automatically.

I'm having a sound like your description below. Any idea what's causing it? It only seems to happen when the AC is on. Can't re-create it though.
