Hello everyone I'm having a very odd problem when I got to install my tranny. I'm have a 96 xlt 4 door that came with 4.0 ohv so I'm in the process of doing a 5.0 swap. I currently have the 5.0 in it. I can grab the fly wheel and turn it when the transmission is off it takes some effort but I can do now when I install the transmission with the torque converter I cannot turn the engine at all I've tried as many many ideas to try to get the engine to spin so I can tighten the torque converter nuts but with no success does anyone have any ideas that may solve this problem?

Have you tried turning the engine with the transmission in place but not bolted tight? Might be that something is getting pinched and preventing it. Could even be that the transmission is bolting up uneven and the hub of the convertor (assuming its an auto) is ****ed sideways locking up the crank.

i dont think you have your converter engaged fully. did you feel two "dead thumps" while spinning the torque converter to seat it?

Sounds to me like you have the converter attached to the flex plate at an angle and not even to all 4 bolts. I have run into this issue as well.

i figured it out it wasnt seated right and the angle was off I have it all bolted up and ready for the drive shafts to be installed. On another note the parts explorer I have has a limited slip diff in the rear now my questions is would the limited slip parts fit in the front diff? and would it be a good idea to install it in the front diff?

I forgot to mention its an All wheel drive model

Rear is a Ford 8.8, front is a Dana 35. No the rear parts will not work in the front.

OK hmmm is there anything I do to the Dana to make it a true 4x4 and also has some wine done a write up on swapping front diffs as in the gears inside them cause the v6 had the the control trac system and the vacuum motor that engages the 4x4 hits the oil pan plus the diff I took has about 75k on it and the fluid was so clean it look like I just add it
