OEM stereo unit gone bad?

So Ive been browsing and havent been able to find much but the stereo in my girl's 1992 Eddie Bauer X works but doesent work...

The tape player still works, Ive tested it, the tape player/functions still work fine and the head unit itself is still lit up but the radio display/clock are done..does anybody know if this can be fixed, or if the unit is bad?

It's only a temporary thing untill I can get my buddy's Dual headunit from him next week..I was just curious to see what the bandit is..

probably bad... and it just wouldn't be worth getting it fixed, ya kno? i actually have the stock deck from my 97 just sitting here.. i don't imagine it being worth too much on the secondary market, so i'm just gonna hold onto it in case i ever wanna sell the truck.

LCDs like that go bad after a while, the digits burn out. No real fix, if you are on the cheap a working junkyard unit should be about $5-10 from a first gen or put a Ranger unit in.

Aftermarket stereos are cheap too, though you'll need to do some wiring work...

It's an overheated board in your display this web site sells the instructions to fix it yourself or they also sell a board swap out to get it fixed. I did the swap out and mine had worked flawlessly ever since.

$19.99 for the DIY instructions and it is well worth it.
And if it is the RDS head unit with the rear controls look to spend at LEAST $200 to replace it even on Ebay!!!!! That is if you can even find one they are pretty rare and being a Eddie Bauer I would imagine that it's the RDS unit w/ Subwoofer output. The other NON RDS units and Ranger units will NOT work without modification and loss of functions. Believe me I tried for months to find a RDS replacement for mine before I found this guys web page and got mine fixed.

That is a cool site but appears they only list repair kits for 98-2001 radios...
