Please don't laught at this question. I have been looking at various pictures of Exs on thos forum and see many of you have as lot of lights on your Exs. Why? What is the purpose of all the lights?

I'll let Matt handle this - There has to be another reason than to see at night ;)

-to land 747's
-to light up football games
-to light up my house from two miles away
-to use as a promotional "spotlight" for grand openings and such
-to blind ignorant people
-because 4 is better then 2, 8 is better then 4, and 16 is better then 8!
but most importantly, just ot have something distinguishable about the vehicle. Have I ever NEEDED that many lights? No way, have I used several of them at once when night wheeling to help light up the trail? Oh yeah, and they worked well!
Last but not least, just tos ay we've got 16 lights on our vehicles... LOL (ok so that's just me and Mr. Daylighter) :)

I have 3 pairs of offroad lights on my Explorer. I use them for setting up camp in the dark, seeing what is behind me b/c the reverse lights are not bright enough, lighting up Forrest roads going at decent speeds, low speed offroading just to see better. It is amazing the difference 3 sets of lights make against hi beams.

I have two set of lights mounted to the stock roof rack and a set of backup lights for the rear. They are quite handy for night wheel'in and the ones in back are good for getting tailgaters off my butt as well as help me back up in the middle of the woods. Lights are fun and like Matt said, they set you apart from all the other explorers out there.

I know of a fellow with similar lights and he seemed to enjoy turning on the reverse ones, as you said "to get tailgaters...". Well he turned them on an unmarked police car one night.....and I seriously doubt he will ever flash anyone again.

I've got 'em on mine so I can see the deer in front of me at night. I wired them to my hi beams. I live way out in the middle of nowhere, and we have a lot of deer around. They have already kept me from splatting a couple already. We also use them for 4wheeling at night in the mountains. (and if you get really cold when you are outside, you can stand in front of them and warm up:) )

Nuff said.

Me and Matt can use signals to comminicate at night:)

I as just curious if anyone here has those PIAA locks, for the lights? Also i was wondering if there is any chance there would be a group purchase on those, if a bunch of people were interested. They seem pretty good to have, if they keep people from getting at your bolts, because the lights are pretty easy to steal if they are mounted to a brush guard or something...

Diablo, do you pay attention at all? LOL j/k. Check out group purchases forum, look for PIAA Group Purchase. Unfortanetly I can't get much of a deal on the light locks, they run about $28 for a set. I've always run the light locks on all my lights and I've never had a problem with any lights getting swiped or anything, and I've had about 40 different PIAA lights over the years.
