ohv to sohc. 2nd Gen

What involves putting a sohc in place of ohv. I have the M50D trans. I have a 98 explorer sport 4.0 ohv 2x4. And buying a 99 ex 4x4 sohc for engine. Any help

You pretty much need the entire donor vehicle including transmission, wiring harnesses, Computer, and instrument cluster to pull it off. Pretty big job.

While the SOHCs have a bit more power they are also considered much less reliable than the OHV due to timing chain issues.

A swap would probably require a change of harnesses and computers so that all the sensors and sending units match up.
