Hey guys I have a 99 ohv with the 5 speed manual trans.I’ve recently put my lift and new wheels and tires on (33x12.50.15) and noticed instantly that my 1st gear feels almost like my stock second gear and my 5th gear has no power Whats so ever so I know that I need to re gear it I was wondering what would be a good gear ratio?where is a good place to get them from?and how do I check what gear are in it now and how to figure out what front and rear end do I have.any help would be greatly appreciated

4.56 if you are ever planning on bigger tires. Check the door tag for the axle code.

I think I’m going to stick with the 33s.and the sticker on my doors are gone😀 is there another way to check? And what’s a good place to order them from and is the front and rear end going to have the same gears like could I order just two sets? Sorry for all the questions I’m not good. With gearing😀

This is the only photo I have of my original door before I changed my doors out.is there any Info there for the axles?

With a 5 speed you can go with 4.56 but also consider 4.88

How
Much highway do you do?

No pic showing. You can also rotate the tire one rotation and count the rotations it makes.

You can also look at the tag on your rear diff. That will help know what gears you will have and if you have a limited slip rear. I can't Quit remember but they usually have something stamped on the rear diff stating 88 373 ls. This would be an 8.8 with 3.73 gears limited slip. I believe that is what would be on a the metal tag.

Door sticker has a axle code which will tell you what was supplied in the truck axles

I do a pretty good amount of highway speed.I’m back and forth from pa all the time and on my door sticker it sais 45.I don’t really know what that mean if you could help

45 is 3.55 open. You have a 35 spline Ford 8.8 in the rear and a IFS D35 up front.

Ok thanks for all the help.would you happen to have a link or know of a good place to order the gears? And would you guys recomend putting them in your self or letting a shop do it .there’s a shop local to me that said they will do it for 1000 is that good?

3.55 with 33’s that sucks!!
I would go 4.56 since you do a lot of highway and do not plan to go larger
You can order ring and pinion sets and master install kits from just about anywhere
I would let a shop do the work

$500
Per axle is about right for labor only
