Yeap. I had a lovely nite of watching all the oil in my engine drip onto the ground after my oil sending unit went out. I drove like 10 miles with low pressure, but the temp guage never moved past the N so I think the engine is alright. The ford dealer closests to where i got the problem tried to screw me over for a bunch of other little repairs ..even tried to nail me for hosing off the oil that got on my block... well..whatever... I think its about time to get another vehicle... take this off the road for some serious repairs...body and ENGINE work... got a guy who builds race car engines that is willing to juice out my engine.

ugh... frustration....

Looking at a Wrangler for the next rig.... well..for a daily driver anyway...anyone know if they get decent gas mileage?

I wouldn't recomend a Wrangler as a daily driver. They aren't the most comfortable vehicles to begin with, and no sooner than you get it you (if your like most of us) will start modifying it and destroy any "daily driver" charastics it may have had. If it were me, I'd look for a clean later model X to use as your daily driver, you'll be much happier.

HAHA

I have a 91' X... not much late model than that. I'm seriously looking at the wrangler ... and not doing anything to it. Maybe a Z24 Cav' or even a Grand Am GT' ... I think the Cav' would get the best gas mileage ... maybe thats what I'll go with. I just want something that doesnt cost me $20 every 4 days to refill.

my daily driver,,,,,,,,

my main daily driver for work comute would be my 91 Cavilier RS, it's got a little 2.2 4 in it that i have worked over, (im getting at absolute best on highway 39MPG)
this car has now 188k mils on it and lots more ahead,, i got the car for free due to a freind of mine that blew the head and wanted it gone lol, so off i went with the tow dolly,, new modified head and just about everything else under the hood you could ever change aside from pulling the motor and trans,, but stil has been a cheap bang for the buck work comuter.
i also own a 92' X which just had a freshly rebuilt and moded A4LD put in, and soon the 94' 4.0 is going to be droped in as well,,
my other trail rig is a modified 88 Bronco2.

Daily

yea..

I think i'm leaning towards the Grand Am GT now... my friend who is into the chevy cars tells me that the highway mileage btwn the Grand Am GT and the Cav's with the 2.4 are about the same. Still the idea of a Wrangler seems appealing during the summer... just not sure I like the idea of a soft top when I work at a mall where theft is a major problem.

My boss and I rented a Wrangler on a trip to Il. We had to commute 2 hours from the airport to the motel. Then a 1 hour commute from the hotel to the corporate office.

We both thought it would be cool to see how the Wranglers stand up. It was awful. The thing got horrible gas mileage and the wind was beating the windshield as well as the cloth top. You couldn't hear anything over the engine...and it wasn't a 'good engine' sound, if you know what I mean.

I wanted to replace my 91 with one, thought it would be cool to have a ragtop to haul the jetski to the lake. I have rethought that decision.
