I am in the middle of a nightmare oil change. First one after the superlift kit went in and I can't get the oil filter out. The D@#$ thing is dented in where the engine mount has been riding against it hard.

I finally did get it out by hacksawing the filter apart to get it off the threads, but now can't get the new one on either. Any suggestions? I'm tempted to just grind off a 1/4 - 1/2 inch of the engine mount, but don't know how much is to much.

non-drivable now...no filter, no oil. Damn.

The more I think about this, the superlift wouldn't change the relationship of the oil filter and the engine mount. I'm thinking this is a larger issue...bent frame or motor mount. I'll search for info on that....

In the meantime, I have a better question. Is there another smaller diameter filter that would work? Are all Ford threads the same so I can go browse different filter diameters?

yes - and that will take care of my 911, but I think it is indicative of a bigger issue with the frame.....

Thanks....I'll end up doing that too...

unfortunately, no. And from the catalogs I've looked at, even the V8 Sploders had both standard and metric threads. Although that was when I was looking through a Fram oil filter catalog, so I have no clue how accurate that is.
But I do know that an oil filter for a 2.9L V6 Bronco2 does not fit the 5.0 V8.

Ok - you can move this outta 911. Its now a motor mount issue. I got a filter back on by prying the motor mount up off the filter and screwing the thing on for now. 1/8 clearance except when starting, it rocks the engine in the mounts and makes contact...have to fix soon I think....

I'm looking on Autofab's website, but can't find the 4.0 OHV motor mounts 410Fortune talked about in his thread. Will keep looking.....

they only make the 4.0L mounts for the first gen (Ranger mounts)

You either can fab up your own solid ones or urethane ones, or replace with factory style.

My BII went through three sets of 4.0L mounts in the time I had a 4.0L in there, wheeling = twisting and the stock mounts dont hold up to well :)

With solid mounts on the 5.0L and the Autofab urethane trans mount it feels more solid, sturdy especially when wheeling!

thx. Sounds like the 2nd gen guys are screwed once again. :(

I think!

It never hurts to Call John at AutoFab, their website is a dinosaur so you never know....

if you called an oil change place they could look up other filters with the same threads that would go on in place of your filter... i think a toyota filter for like a 2000 model would work. same threads. your filter 1 toyota 3614. hope this can be some help.

How come you ran into this problem with the oil filter? The only problem I have is that it drains right into the crossmember (the filter that is).
