Hi all.
I have a '91 Ford Explorer 4X4 4Dr with a 4.0L and Automatic trans. I have traced an oil leak to the oil filter area. I have recently changed the oil and filter, so I know that the oil filter is not loose (like the previous one). I visited the local Ford dealership, and found that there are two O-Rings that seal the Oil Filter Pedestal to the engine block. When I went to change these O-Rings, I saw that the retaining bolt is already quite close to the exhast manifold flange (1/2" or less).
My question is: Can I remove the Oil Filter Pedestal bolt with the exhaust manifold in place, or do I need to remove the exhaust manifold?
Any thoughts that you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
James Davidson
