My 2000 Explorer Limited Oil guage has suddenly moved under the pin on the guage. IOW, when the engine is off, the needle points down, about 5:30 on a clock. When the engine is on, it moves up, but hits the pin. I tried a paper clip inserted through the trip reset button and could reach the needle, but couldn't lift it over the pin. My other option is to try and reset the needle by turning it around until it rests on the pin.
What would cause the needle to turn counter-clockwise to rest under the pin and how can I fix it?
