I have a 96 explorer with the 4.0 ohv 2wd
Can I get the oil pan out without moving the motor?
If I have to move the transmission that’s fine but I can’t find anything about taking this oil pan out and mine is leaking bad. No oil in it after just 2 weeks for topping it up.

No way Jose pan will not come out while engine in vehicle

It is best to remove the engine the oil pan gasket on the 4.0 is very finicky and must be installed properly. I just did one today in fact

The rear of the gasket has two small tabs that tuck up into the engine block and you must dig all of the old gasket rubber out of those holes. Very difficult to do with engine connected to transmission and with engine in truck.

The oil pump pickup tube is about 6” tall and the pan will never clear it

Now some people have replaced the oil pan gasket without pulling the pan by cutting the gasket at one corner and fishing it into position. I do not recommend this on the 4.0

I would verify that the leak is not your valve covers, lower intake, or the oil filter mount
