oil pressure gauge showing no pressure

My 96 xlt has been sitting for months. I am now getting it back on the road. Today on start up the oil pressure gauge didnt budge and the check gauge light came on. the oil level is good. How do I go about figuring out whats wrong? should I change the oil? ( was planning on it anyway) where does the gauge connect to the block?

Did the engine knock really bad when you started it?

Sounds like you might need a new oil pump.

If there is no engine knock it is the sending unit. easy fix

starts up normal no obvious noise to speak of, thanks for the replies
