So last oil change i used royal purple synthetic oil and fram filter(didnt have royal purple at time)

How does the onboard computer calculate this. It goes by 100% after you reset the computer. Is it just calculating 3,000miles?

My main question is im driving upstate to delhi on sunday and my light came on that says change oil soon or whatever...

With synthtic cant you run it longer? Will it be bad if i drive up and do oil change when i get back?

in my 1992 honda i would go like 6000 miles sometimes more..I also beat the balls off of it R.I.P. :)

Most newer oil change monitors use inputs such as engine temp, RPM's, and miles traveld to calculate oil life. It has no way to know if you have used a synthetic oil that can run longer.

Unless someone changed it, it normally is 5,000mi. . .there is a way to adjust it to whatever you want (forgot how, its in the manual somewhere).

I set mine to 4k and use Motorcraft oil.

Great thanks:) need to change fuel filter clean throttle body and MAF(casue of K&N excess oil) and do an oil change next week.:(

Great thanks:) .......clean throttle body and MAF(casue of K&N excess oil) and do an oil change next week.:(

Use caution: Most later-model throttle bodies must NOT be cleaned as they are coated with a special material which is not to be disturbed.......

Check Ford Shop literature. imp

you want to run a fram oil filter for longer then 5k miles. think 02 cars oil change was every 3k tho.

3k for nyc driving conditions 5k if you live in like sc and drive 100 miles to from work with no traffic.

there was a post on here of someone cleaning it and using wd40 and my mechanic friend has sprayed some cleaner in their before. Thats ridiculous if you cant or are not supposed to clean it...

ok thanks I have lot of wd40 :-) I not cood at finding things here on the site.

i would def not use a water base solution to clean / lube metal parts since it allows them to start to rust.

So what would it be carp cleaner ,throttle cleaner, contact cleaner ,wd40 or somthing else???

In a previous post, I quoted directly from the Ford Shop Manual, not Chiltons, or some other after-market book.

It clearly states throttle bodies have a special coating which is affected adversely by most any cleaners; cleaning should not be attempted.

One guy wrote of problems he experienced after cleaning his; that prompted me to write the warning. Try searching "clean throttle body".........imp

Ok thinks :-) maby I just leave it alone. I just thought it might fix the gas petal. It hard to accelerate normal, the petal is stiff first then it gose down and the acceleration more then you plan to do..
