I want to switch my mountaineer over to sythetic oil. Does anything have to be done besides putting the synthetic oil in and changeing the filter? Or is it even a good idea to switch over?

With the cold months here, synthetic is a great idea as its viscosity is more tolerant to low/extreme temperatures (doesnt go maple-syrup as quick as conventional oil). And no nothing special needs to be done to switch over.

If you've got high miles, I would recommend the full synthetic Valvoline Max Life. I run that in my Explorer and my F150 and it's great oil. For filters I go with either Wix or Mobil 1.

thanks guys, i have mobile 1. I actually found 5 brand new quarts in my barn haha. So i figured id use it.
