Good

Please send me your name and how many will be in your party.... the earlier we get everything in the better...I will have to call them tomorrow since my email is down....I will post the results of my call here sometime tomorrow.....I plan on bringing my Bronco too if I can get another driver..... so if you would like to go and are not into driving your explorer for offroad purposes.... you are welcome to try out the Bronco...

I guess I will also call the campground and find out about reserving spaces there ...like MetJeep said...we arent the only ones going to be there so maybe a reservation is necessary..

Still no absolute plans for me... Why can't people just give me a definite answer on if I can go or not?! I guess that's better than a definite no though... The boss's son wants that weekend off, and that doesn't help my cause very much. :(

DAMN, I would ride up with you John on the 25th, BUT i have one problem it's my 21st b-day and you know what i'm doing that night. That suck because i need some 4-wheelin in my life.haha

P.S. Cars SUCK

You and 24 of you buddies, all conveniently named BUD, getting together? ;)
That's my big goal for when I turn 21. I strive really hard to set goals high enough for myself don't I?

yeah I think I'll be camping....unless it is like really nasty (humid and yuck like it sometimes gets in August)...otherwise I'll be real nearby...like the Forest Hill Inn... (I just like a nice clean shower hehe)

How are we taking care of the payment for the run? Do we send money to Paragon or to a person that is organizing this. As for camping are we taking care of that on our own or is that also going to be a group thing? Are we only doing the 25 or the 25 and 26?

Answers to questions

I am truely sorry I havent been able to get online because my computer still isn't fixed.... I am begging and borrowing and stealing to get online...lol.... anyway
the answers to your questions are here now:

Everyone will make their own reservations for camp...I plan on camping overnight on Friday night ...not Saturday....I have put up all of the information for camping somewhere in this thread.... all you need to do is call and make a reservation..

Ok for our run....I will be sending a deposit of $125 for our club to have it's own run.... the cost is still $55....but they need a deposit in order to hold a guide for us... and for the itinerary etc..... all you need to bring is your $55 and an extra $5 - $8 for a tip for the guide... This is what has been done in the past and the tip is not required but I feel that it is a given that it should be included.... the cost of the tip will decrease if we get more explorers together for this....

as it stands now I have us booked for August 25th... officially The East Coast Explorers.... for 5-7 trucks...

It is important to tell me if it looks favorable that you will be attending.... just post it here ..... if there is more than 7 of us then we may be able to get a discount....
Also if there are less than 5 attending I may be stuck with the cost....and we run the risk of not being taken seriously later.... the sooner we know the better...

Thanks
Karol

Things are looking good for me. I have someone who will work for me so time off is no longer a problem. Ford was nice enough to send me a check for $440 so money is no longer a problem. (suddenly I'm glad I had Firestones :)) If my girlfriend or dad can get off of work to come with me, then I will definitley be there. Things are coming finally working out for me.

Without an act of God (or truck probs), I will be attending. Also camping over Friday night.

Question...Pay when we arrive or before?

What trails are we doing?

It's only Saturday on the trails, right?

BTW--anyone that wants to camp..I have extra everything so let me know... oh yeah..uhh what's the beer preference?

ok

Its looking good....

I am camping Fri night and wheelin Saturday .....you can wheel Sunday if you want but it won't be the club run... you can pay for the extra day when you get there if you wish...I believe there is someone inside the camp office that can take your info and your money if you decide to stay.....call them to make sure though...

ok....I like Coors light but I can bring myown..(I know alot of guys don't like light beer)...

It would be helpful to send the money in to me as soon as possible... preferably at least a week and a half before the trip....dont send in your tip money... I'll elect Jeff to run around sometime during a break in the run and collect it (hehe Jeff if you want to that is...otherwise I'll do it) and we can present it to the guide as a group at that time...

Also....one more thing...but I'm not really sure of....I believe that since we are a club doing an official run Paragon gives the host ( in Jeff's case)(or hostess in my case) some free stuff....I am willing to give up these free items and hold some kind of raffle... somewhat like a door prize... they may just be some stickers or Tshirts but well....it's something.... if someone can come up with a way to raffle them off please post your ideas...

So....just to recap...I have 3 names definite and 1 a favorable.... anyone else???

Im sorry

Trails...

The trails we will start out on are stock to intermediate trails...these are not scenic drives....lots of hillclimbs...rocks and some huge mudholes (depending on the rain or lack of).... but they are fun and you are not likely to break anything (well break anything major that is)... most of the trails run along and adjacent to the higher level trails so you will be able to see alot of the monsters going through and breaking their axles on Pebbles and BamBam...Mtrail....impossible hill.... Undertaker etc.... there are alot of challenges out there enought for every kind of truck...

we have to remember...this is an ORV park ...specifically for 4x4 trucks and ATVs.... it's their rules... they need to keep it safe for everyone so some government agency doesn't find some loophole to close them down.... these guides are doing this as a living....they host many Jeeper events and they do this almost everyday of their lives....they know the territory back and forth...

Depending on the lift of your truck you may very well be able to do the higher level stuff... if so.... then it will be easy to do as long as you let your guide know what you want....there are also plenty of access areas for any of the challenges you feel that your truck can't handle.... I think that is what makes Paragon so great.... you don't necessarily have to learn by breaking everything on your truck...

OOhh one more point....everyone please buy, obtain or borrow (handheld or otherwise) a CB radio this is important.... we lost the only one of our pack at the 4x4 rumble in May because he didnt have anything.... he overheated and was stuck way back..

Love to go one of these days, but I'm at Hershey Park that day.

I'm in too :D :D ;) :p
I'm definintely in for Saturday, and if it's only me, I might camp it on Friday night. I won't know until we get a little closer though.

this is who i have so far

So please correct me if I am wrong

Jeff and <maybe> wife

Karol, Tony and Renee

lizardtac - bringing anyone with you?

monkeyboy- ?father in law or girlfriend?

Keith-bringing anyone with you?

oahrens- bringing anyone with you?

so far 6 trucks... anyone else?

I still haven't decided if I am going to bring the Bronco yet so...I might have a 7th driver ....

If there is a question about payment I will tell you all what I told lizardtrac

It might be best if you sent the payment in care of Karol O'Connor in a Postal Money order form.... I use postal money orders for almost everything I buy online including (and especially) ebay items... It is considered Mail Fraud to use monies presented to you not for its intended use..... I will then send in the money in form of a combined Postal Money order to Paragon about a week and a half before the run.(or as soon as I recieve everyones money order).... If something unforeseen happens .....I will turn hell and high water to get your money back to you.....

my address is

Sorry to be a PIA but

While I have somputer access I felt I should post this...

Trail Rides

All of our events are family oriented. Traveling off road in a safe and organized manner is always a fun experience for ‘kids’ from 82 to 2 years old. We offer trail rides for those new to the sport and also for those more experienced that want to test their driving skills and their vehicle. Our goal is to provide an excellent off road weekend for everyone whether it’s mild or high challenge. This is a family sport. Bring the kids!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Listed below are basic vehicle requirements and levels of trail difficulty. On the event application forms we ask you to mark the ride levels you’re interested in and will give us an idea as to what the demand is for the different levels of rides. We won’t actually assign you to a ride until you check-in for the event and we’ve discussed the different levels, your vehicle/experience and the type of rides you really want. Again, our goal is for you to have a great off road experience.

Vehicle Requirements

1) - Proper seat belts for driver and ALL passengers

2) - Vehicle is in safe condition

3) - Fire extinguisher

4) - First Aid kit

5) - Roll cage for open top vehicles

6) - Tire Jack

7) - NO alcoholic beverages in the vehicle when on a trail ride

CB radio is recommended so you can communicate with the trail leader and others in your group while on the trail rides.

Bring plenty of water and a snack or lunch for the rides. Most rides leave in the morning and return mid to late afternoon. Break downs and other unforeseen things could keep you on the trail longer than expected. Plan for this ahead of time.

Always listen to your trail leader.

Always keep the vehicle behind you insight when at a trail intersection. Make sure they know the right route to take. This is very important! Don’t forget that you’re all in the ride together.

If you have a problem, tell your trail leader.

If you don’t feel comfortable tackling an obstacle, tell your trail leader. They want to and will help you. Remember, we’re here to have fun.

Never, ever litter - not even a cigarette butt or part of a candy wrapper. All organized 4 wheelers are proud of their reputation and respect the land that they are allowed to ride on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trail Ratings

We use a trail rating system from 1 (easiest) to 5 (most difficult). Each area of the country has unique trails and conditions so it’s impossible to set one standard or rating for all. Always remember that rough weather can quickly change a trail rating. This only meant as a guide.

Level 1

Four wheel drive needed at times, usually scenic, no scratches or dings.

Level 2

4x4 needed often, fun ride for stock vehicles and those wanting more off road experience.

Level 3

Rear locker recommended, aggressive 32”+ tires required, very challenging.

Level 4

Rear locker required, aggressive 33”+ tires required, front locker recommended (sometimes required), winch recommended (sometimes required), very challenging trail for experienced drivers.

Level 5

Total disregard for the mechanical and cosmetic condition of your vehicle during the ride, 35”+ tires (38” for some), lockers F/R, winch, spare parts (spare vehicle recommended). Get the message?

Note: Always be honest about your vehicle and your driving experience when signing up for rides at event check-in. Remember that’s not just you going on that ride. We allow everyone to change their ride assignments after each day so you can always move up a level if it makes sense. We want all rides to run smoothly and you won’t be allowed on a ride you and your vehicle aren’t qualified to run. It saves a lot of heartache and makes for a better event for everyone.

Spare parts: If you’re running the tougher trails, what are your weak points and what spares should you have? Plan ahead. U-joints, hoses, belts, brake lines and fittings, engine & tranny fluids, duct tape, tire plugs, tire sealant, water, etc. Plan ahead!

Let’s have fun and play safe!

This is from the Sports in the Rough event page...but I still think it applies here... (they hosted the 4x4 Rumble that I went to at Paragon back in May)

Paragon

Hi Karol--

"Omar" posted some links to a couple video clips from Paragon on the http://www.paragonap.com web page. These are interesting and I am sure you might recognize a spot or two. To get to them, you need to get to the "adventure board" link on the bottom then to "Paragon 4x4 Talk" and then to the "new video from the J**p Jamboree" link. There are clips (big) from Chicken Run (one of the newer trails I think, I can't recall running it yet) and from the "101" course.

Watch out, these files are kind of big, but worthwhile! Will take quite some time to pull them in over a lower speed connection.
