Ok now my motor is running great, then

Hello , just rebuilt my motor (twice). and its going great, yesterday went for a w4d trip in to the bush lots of hard driving and all went well , at the end of the trip I had to cross a river about 2 1/2 foot deep got through then I stopped to pump up tyres . took of and notice a clunk and then a cel light came on ok had a look around nothing obvious, drove down the road ( dirt road) slowly all ok and picked up speed to about 50 mph going around a corner something happened and I lost the back end , managed to pull it back then it happened twice more, the back wheels were locking up, from then on it would not shift above 2 gear, crawled 90 miles back home , put the computer on it tonite and read a Po755 code , would the water crossing have done anything? , where to start,thx Pete

Well, the breather hose for the tranny is down low where the tranny pan is. If you haven't modified that then I would say your warm tranny sucked in water as it was crossing the river. If this is the case then I would be changing the fluid immediatly.

Po755 = Shift Solenoid B malfunction. So you may as well change that when you have the pan off the tranny.

I think that maybe the tranny is trying to pick up 2 gears at once and that is what was causing your rear tires to lock up. Now that has happened a few times the tranny has "learned" about whats happening and only giving you 2nd. Don't quote me on that one though, it's just a theory.

Thx for that mate, I have extended the breather hose up high for the trans, diffs and transfer case, Tommorow I will clear the code and see how what that does then Maybe start pulling the pan off.

From what I have read here, I think I would pull the pan off the trans post haste (immediately). Water and oil dont mix, unless you add a lot of detergent. (Dish soap). Just IMHO.

update

This problem has now gone away, I checked all the electrical connectors on the transmission loom, they all seemed ok , cleared the codes , and it runs perfect,
the only conclusion I have is water got into a connector somewhere and created the fault, car went in to limp mode, I will get some dielectric grease and go over all the connections, I will also drop the pan , change the filter and oil , thx to those with replies

Hopefully you got lucky, and the connectors dried out, fixing the problem.
