Can anyone help me with this problem?

If I open the driver door, the interior lights come on. If I open any other door, the lights don't come on.

Could one or more (bad) door switches cause this to happen?

I thought that the switches were wired independent of each other within the circuit, each having a hot lead.

What should I check first? My haynes manual doesn't have any wiring diagram specifically for the door switches.

My problem is the opposite. All my doors trigger the light but the driver's one. Which is fine with me. That way I can sneak in and out while stalking Ex Girlfriends.

I know my problem is the 'door ajar' switch. I know this because before my door was constanly 'closed' it used to open and close on its own (or so my computer thought). So the door ajar light and dome lights would come on and go off while I was driving down the road. Plus it would make that annoying beep. I'm glad it finally broke all the way.

Anyway, I'm not sure if the older models have the door ajar lights and sirens.. but I bet your problem is the same. Damn that was a long post. :D

Spray some WD-40 in the door latches. They get stuck, and WD-40 will penetrate through the rust.

Yeah, and if that doesn't work then check the wiring under them. You can use a socket to remove the pins so it's fairly simple.

Thanks, I'll try the lube thing.

I'm pretty sure the previous owner rarely had passengers since the rear doors wouldn't open from the inside when I got it. I had to lube the door pulls and latches to make them work. Open easily using the outside handles.

The same could be true for the switches. If they were closed most of their life, the contacts could be slightly corroded.

WD-40 will do the trick spray it in the hole where the door latches and open and close the door until it unsticks. This is the same thing they would do at the dealer.
