Opinions on New System...

Hey Guys, I recently had my stereo stolen from my truck and now the insurance company is giving me $1800 to go get a new one. So if you had $1800 and all you could get was stero stuff....what would you get.

I have to get a new Head Unit, amp, subs, and a box. That is all i need. I am thinking about an Eclipse 5425 HU with 2 JL Audio 12W6V2 subs and a JL Audio 500/1 amp. What do you think? What would you go with? I am open to any suggestions?

I would defintely go with the JL's. Nothing else! Get the 1000/1 JL amp. The 500/1 would under power those 12's (w6) 450w RMS each. You need at least 800w to push them. Put some JL (XR) 6.5's components in the doors with the adapter plate you can make or find on ebay. Put JL (TR) 5x7 coaxials in the rear. I would get the 300/4 amp to push my little speakers. Stinger wiring and capacitor. Optima battery (Red or Yellow).
So the run down is as follow:
JL Audio 12W6 (x2) $400.00 each
JL Audio 1000/1 Amp $800.00
JL Audio 300/4 Amp $500.00
JL Audio 6.5 componets (XR series) $250.00
JL Audio 5x7 coaxials $150.00
Stinger wiring $50.00
Stinger capactor $100.00

total: $2400......Alot of money!

You know what, I read over that you said you have an 1800 budget.
Get 2 JL w3's $400 ($200 each)
JL 500/1 or RF P8001 $500
Alpine or eclipse HU- 4volts preamp output. ~500.00
JL 6.5 componets $250.00
JL Coaxials $150

total: $1800

So would you guys rather go with 2 X 12W'3s or 1 X 12W6v2 with a JL 500/1 Amp?

I would go with 2 12 w3's. It all depends on what you want and like. Go to a sound shop and listen to some subs. listen to one 12w6 and 2 12 w3's and make a decision from there. Remember also that the subs will sound different in the store than in your truck. I have two w3's in my truck. check out my cardomain site. W3's are fine. W6's are better.

Based of the companies your stating I probably would go this direction
Eclipse HU around $500 depending on model and where you buy
12 w7 (you can pick one up for $300-$400 on ebay from a reputable seller)
JL 6.5 componets $250.00
JL Coaxials $150
JL 500/1 (you can pick one up for $300-400 on ebay from a reputable seller)
And the rest for wiring, possible amp for speakers, etc.

I would got with the following:
Alpine or Eclipse $400-$500
(1) 12" IDMAX V3 $300 or (1) RE 12" x.. $400
CDT components or ID Chameleons or RE x.. components $150-$300
CDT Coaxials or ID coaxials $100
For Sub amp you can use any reputable company, Orion, RE, DD, Kicker, Hifonics, Concept, etc. $400-$600
And the rest for wiring, possible amp for speakers, etc.

If you want to support your local shops prices will be higher.

I was only giving my opinion base on memorization from what I saw in the past. Ebay and any other ways of obtaining what you want is the best way. Im not trying to promote these high a-s shops around town, im just trying to give the guy some direction/advice. By all means, get the best price possible......steal it..its free then. naw dont do that!\
