i mean for 26 bucks meh i mean im sure it will be better than stock but ur way better off buying from like mac or KnN. try explorerexpress.com or hensonperformance.com

i ordered from them, and that is just from the MAF forward, in personal opinion i wouldn't do it again, because i had to modify it so bad, i spent 50 dollars and 20 for shipping for the parts that i could have made myself.. not a good idea.

Justin

so we just ordered this one

even though its a picture of a newer gen it should fit.

QUOTE]

The picture is a '01+ sport/sport tac

States it is for
1. MERCURY MOUNTAINEER 5.0L V8 (1997-2000)

2. FORD EXPLORER 5.0L V8 (1997-2001)

I guess the dumb ass doesn't know that the 5.0 was used from 1996-2001 and that the Mountaineer had the 5.0 in 2001 as well.

As the saying goes.

You get what you pay for.

BTW. There is no way in hell you are going to see 7-15 hp with that thing!

Maybe 1-2 if you're lucky

yea thats another thing the info and pics are all wrong. someone didnt do their homework on this 1 lol

well we are on an ultra low budget we dont wanna pay $200 for an intake, because in all honesty they dont do crap, i put an intake on for the sound, i always get worse gas mileage because i mash the gas more to hear the intake... besides whats a k&N gunna give 5hp instead of 1-2hp??

anyways, ill keep you guys updated on the process, we painted the rims and it looks ****, im a little pissed though i think we did TOO good of a job on them they look too black, and make the paint on the body of the truck look crappy...
just got clear corners and silverstars. and am gutting the rear cats.

btw its a 5.0

well this one here is your best bet

Mac claims 14.4 added horsepower. i got it on my 98 5.0 and u definately do feel a difference in acceleration. it is 170 bucks but thats still a pretty good price considering the gain. if you team it up with this...
http://www.explorerexpress.com/exhaust-catback-aluminized-9698-explorer50-before-12898-p-337.html
you will be good. thats what i have on and i usually run 10.6's on the 1/8th mile all tho my best is 10.34 on a 54* day so needless to say it all makes a big difference.

Anyone that expects a real 14+ hp from a CAI is on crack. Exhaust will do more for you than a CAI. After dressing and running dozens of drag cars, they're the most expensive do nothing mods you can get, IMHO. The point is to get cold air to the MAF and into the engine. That $20 CAI will do virtually the same thing as a $170 MAC. I remember thinking after I put one on my Mustang that I should have spent the $ on gears.

i dunno about that. infact i know alot of guys on here that would say otherwise. all i know is i definately felt a difference after putting mine on and i have the improved drag times to prove it.

lol im not saying ur gonna gain huge numbers but around 10 is sensible with this thing and with the ebay one ur lucky to gain a few more than just putting a KnN filter in ur airbox.

Alrighty then. I'll believe the butt dyno when it starts spitting out measurements. I've been fighting that battle for 20 years on my cars.

My point is if you take a stock Ex motor, 100K+ with no other mods, and old, stock exhaust, you're not seeing 10-14+ HP simply by adding a CAI. Not gonna happen.
