My '93 XLT has almost 300,000 miles but i said the only way i would replace it was with a first gen Limited in white. Well i bought a '94 Limited with 81,000 miles on it and a helluva lot less rust. It's rust looks worse than it is since it's white, my '93 has no rockers and the wheel wells are going big time.

I'm going to fix the body on the Limited completely and swap everything from my XLT to it. The hardest part will probably be the stereo since i have the factory sub in the Limited so i'd like to keep it to go with my 15's instead of having the dead space. Plus i can turn my big subs off and still have a bit of bass with the factory stuff.

i really dislike the look of the first gen limiteds..the bumper looks stupid, the grill looks stupid, and running boards...look stupid, gha! well, change those, and it looks like you got a great explorer! lol...personal preferance at its best.

r u going to restore the limited and repaint it or anything

LOL, that's what i used to think also. I like them because they look different than all the other Explorers. I like the lack of chrome and the distinct trim, not to mention all the interior extras. I mainly wanted one because they are so rare around here and it would be pretty cool to fully optioned truck i could wheel.

IMHO thats a rig you'd drop.. but hey when u do the work post some pics.. could surprise a lotta people for all the reeason you listed..look forward to it

If it was a 2wd i'd drop it in a heartbeat. I'm looking for a 95-01 right now to drop, tub, and Chevy for a drag toy. I'd like to drop that 383 stroker in a 2nd gen just for something different.

This Limited is going up in the air, i've already had it off road at my place. I had to winch it out after i buried it up past the running boards. I always wanted a wheeler with ac, lol.

ahhhhh dont do it!... please dont bowtie power a ford.. i love the 383 stroker..but if you wunna do that..just buy muy firedbird thats for sale and drop in that! ..then hav fun lol

Nothing wrong with wheelin a Limited:thumbsup:

cant you read?

Hey DJ- don't be an ass. Technically he said he was going to fix the body. Doesn't mean he's going to repaint it. Maybe fix the rust around the bottom and spray what's fixed? If he is going to restore it, maybe he's got biger plans, which is what the gist of the question was.

What's with the a-tude? I mean- I could care less what you think, but no reason for you to snap at Sam.

The 383 was in an 88 Mustang GT many moons ago. God was that car fast. This motor has been in just about everything but a suv so it's bout time it went in one.

I'd love to leave the front bumper on it to keep the look but it's gonna have to go because i will destroy it. The front and rears will be swapped out but still painted white or silver. I'm pushing my luck leaving the running boards on it but i'll have Pottsy fab me up some sliders so maybe they'll last a bit longer.

As far as the body work i'm just fixing all the rust and repainting what needs painted. The paint is in really good shape other than the rust spots so it's no big deal.

Wow that looks alot better than I thought:biggthump
How different is the interior compared to the base and the Eddie Bauer

I'll get some pictures tomorrow but electronics wise it has the heated mirrors, auto dimming rear view, auto lights, security delay lighting, and memory seats with two user settings. The main differences are the colors and trim inside which i will take pictures of.

Took a couple interior pics, still haven't cleaned the interior so don't mind the mess. You can see the carpet is a seafoam green color and it matches the bottom of the door. The other door trim matches the seat fabric. It also has the seafoam color piped around the seats and armrest along with the Limited embroidery on the seat backs.

The seats look like there in good condition still, mine are cracked. Whats that third switch for under the headlight switch? I only have two.

The seats are actually in great shape, just have to condition them a few times so i can get them nice and soft again. I'm going to use the factory fog light switch location for my daylighters. Within the month i'm going to have the rust fixed. I have all the replacement metal, i just need time to weld it all in.

I am not sure if you are aware but the memory seats actually have 3 stored positions. To access the third you push 1 and 2 at the same time. And by the way your upper door trim and seats are in awesome shape. I have a 93 2WD Limited that the upper door trim and the center arm rest are completely worn through to the foam. One thing that I do love about the limiteds is the plush carpet that ford used in them. It is a lot thicker carpet than my 93 XLT. It seems to show a lot less wear even though I drive the limited more.

Looking great so far.

Adam
