Still wrong.

I had a Navajo, not a ex.. so I'm a ex-Navajo man.

And too think, there's still many parts from that Navajo still out running the trails! :D

 :fire: Damn Mazda's :fire:

Maybe I should remove those 2 pieces of the Navajo core support.

Too late, it's already cursed.

What about the motor?

Anything that has a part from my old Navajo, will want to go rubber side up.

Nothing wrong, it just for some reason liked to go turtle on me at times.

Back to the engine swap; I pulled the radiator today, and finished welded the brackets, welded the tabs on to the frame for the tube clip, finished a large portion of the re-wiring, and started planning on the final wire cleanup. I even slapped some primer on parts so I can paint them tomorrow.

I'm shooting for a start this coming Saturday afternoon with full fluids. Might even troll up and down the street with no exhaust on it.. :D

Alrighty, after a brief interruption yesterday (one of those "grrr, this doesn't fit.." episodes), buying some ATF, the need fittings to fix yesterday's problems, I fired it up.

Of course, fuel immediately starts to pour out of a fuel line that I didn't get clamped tight enough. Talk about a panic - open exhaust, raw fuel dumping on the ground.

Shut down, had a neighbor come over to man the ignition switch, and clamped the line. 2nd start, no more fuel coming out. :bounce: Of course, the fitting on the power steering pump is leaking.. and it appears the pump is not sufficient to run the power steering and the ram assist. I'll play more with it - it's weird, it turns fine one direction, but it's impossible to turn in the other.

I have one other set leaks to fix on the thermostat housing I made - a couple of pin holes that coolant bubbles through.

After that it's time to make the exhaust flange, finish the front tubing, clean up the electrical, and go play!

Strike that, I found the problem and fixed it - the hydro assist ram was fighting the steering box. All fixed now, just had to swap the hoses to the correct fittings.

Got it finished enough to run outside..

Also installed 2" wheel spacers; the 3.75 bs was just too tight. Now I've got plenty of space, so I can turn the steering stops in closer.

What is left to do:

1) install mastercraft Rubicon R/S seats
2) finish mucking with the steering.
3) put the dash back together.
4) clean up the wiring harness.
5) install temp sensor in thermostat housing.

Pisser of the day - the fan controller I bought from DC controls appears to be bad, and there's only a 90 day warranty. The guy is royal PITA to get a hold of, so I may just toss it and use the $30 solution.

Also, it takes 20 minutes to heat up the whole radiator at idle. :D

Second problem of the day: Powersteering pump may be too weak, and I'll have to replace it.

Made the exhaust today. Got parts from Autozone and Kragen's.

Holley's Raptor turbo muffler sounds pretty nice; quiet at idle, and not too bad at full throttle.

Had to make my own flange for the exhaust; found the majority parts (a gasket, and a header reducer) at Kragen's, so that wasn't bad.

Verified that works:

1) VSS for ECM works. Using a computerized OBDII interface, I can see the speed change (and it matches the speedometer!)
2) Alternator and battery light.
3) Majority of the gauges (I have a 2nd water temp gauge that I need to install the sensor).
4) Power steering.
5) OBDII only throws a P0450 code so far. Hasn't complained about the missing 2nd O2 sensor yet.
6) Engine mounts work GREAT! Talk about control. Old mounts, the shifters would lay over into your lap at low/low/1st crawl/step on brakes. Now, the whole vehicle starts to move, and the shifters don't move one bit. Fully captured engine mounts are NICE!
7) Twin stick shifter is in, and working nice. Fully seals transfer cases, so no major leaks in a roll over.
8) Rebuilt transmission works great.
9) Mastercraft Baja R/S seats are in, and way nicer than the old seats I had. Thought my old fat butt would be too big for them, but I guess I've lost weight because they are COMFY!

TBD:

1) Bump stops
2) Weld up shock mounts
3) Install Puma 12v air compressor.
4) Finish front tube work.
5) Install head lights.
6) Cleanup wiring.
7) a better battery tray. The one I made is warped, and looks like crap..
8) paint, paint, and more paint.
9) install temp gauge sending unit, fix pin hole leaks in custom thermostat cover.
