I have a 97 explorer XLT and the outside air temperature reading is all over the place, was going to replace the sensor, but everybody keeps selling me the wrong one! Mine is a dome shaped sensor and all the parts stores have a cone shaped one! And the plug is different, won't even plug into my explorer. So I have checked with Ford and the tell me the sensor is discontinued! Has anyone here ran across this problem? If so is there a work around?

Sorry about that. it's a 5.0L I have the correct location. Research has lead me to the conclusion that it is the one they used in the Bronco.

Part is long gone, there is no aftermarket since it was vehicle specific and probably lasts the life of the vehicle for most (15-20 years). Pick and pull would be your best bet. The ones in the link are for the EATC, and seem to be used on new Fords that are sitting on the lot right now!
