I have 2001 limited, AWD, 5.0. Cuts out at 105 (I plan on remedying that). I make frequent trips from Tennessee to Michigan, and is not uncommon from me to run 90-95. :D

the fastest ive ever gone in mine was 170KMH (after that i dident want to go any faster, but im sure it could have easily gone further) so idk what that is in miles but yea. on 401 coming back from Canada's Wonder Land with my ex (Ex GF lol) . i got a 97 4.0 Eddie Bauer.

yeah mine starts to shake at roughly 50 mph, and getting her to about 70 on the highway is always fun, because it feels like im getting a back massage...

on the 03 my wife hit 112mph @ ~3700rpms and that seems to be the limiter. But I've done 75-95 plenty of times on open road...it's so hard not to with the roaring V8 under the hood.

We have both burried the needle on the 93 many times.

man if it starts that early u really need an alignment

Does anyone know what the 5.0 are governed at. I have a 1997 5.0 and hit 110 driving to the hospital in Las Vegas but never really had the desire to go any faster...trying to make this truck last lol

my 97 v8 with stock tires will get to 110 b4 the governor kicks in.

my 93 4.0 auto will go D. yep, D mph. figured out its about 95.

Mine regularly sees the limiter, ~110. My parents old '02 4.6 could easily hit the same limiter. I'm not so comfortable doing it in their new '07.*

*All were done on a closed, private track. ;)

the sohc in my sport rips, hit 100 fairly quick, still had balls left, bet i coulda burried the speedo at 120 with a lot more straight away though. No wobble or shaking at all, did seemed kinda unstable, who woulda thought hahah

Ah yes, the young and stupid days. My buddy had a '68 Firebird, with a 4.1L OHC Pontiac inline 6 cylinder, with 4bbl carb and dual exhaust. Car tapped out did 145mph on pump gas and was all stock, including 3 speed auto tranny.

It chucked a rod out the side of the block a week later....gee I wonder why...lol

The 170km/hr is about 105mph, near the limiter.

I haven't tested my SOHC truck, I haven't gone much past 90mph with it. My V8 truck will be scary I'm sure. Below is before I calibrated my speedometer, it makes a good picture. That was just after getting it drivable, note the rpm's.

My Canadian 02 limited has a governor that kicks in at 170 kilometers (about 105 miles) but it is by no means violent, just a loss of power. My stock truck feels suprisingly stable at the 100 mph mark and gets there with ease.

I wonder if the previous owner of my truck did some bypassing of the governor on my truck... I have been at 120MPH with my 2002 V8 Explorer, I never felt a governor engage, and yes it was a little scary...never did that again.

Bypass the "Governor"? How was this accomplished?

The only way I know of to raise or remove the speed limiter is with a PCM tune.

I get mine to go 120+ That day was icy out and I was coming up on traffic fast so I had to slow down. One of these days I will do it on dry roads. My trucks Governor has been disabled so I really want to see what happens...:salute:Cheers!

I will post pic
