I have a 97 sport, ever since ive had it the overdrive hasnt worked. When i hit the button on the gear shift, no light comes on or off of the dash and also i cant ever tell a difference in the rpm or the way it shifts. just always does the same thing. therefore i was wondering if maybe it just had the button but didnt actually have overdrive. can some one help?

Nope, you should have overdrive. What RPS's are you running at 70mph? The switch may be shot not letting you kick overdrive off. Overdrive is on by default, the switch turns it off.

im guessing u mean rpms but normally at that speed its a round 3000 rpm

Check the OD fuse on the drivers side of the dash. My 96 has 200k and the OD wire had rubbed thru on the steering column- causing a short and the fuse to blow.
