Owners of X's with 31x10.50 tires with NO LIFTs

Hey Bob...what is your gear ratio? And what was your stock tire size? Im guessing that you have a high (numerically lower) gear ratio to begin with and the 32's have dropped it significantly. Take a look at getting lower (numerically higher) gears for your X to get you back to the equivalent of a stock gear ratio. That should help make your mileage a little better.

PolarBlueIce..NICE
i think your truck is the sam color as mine..lol

i really like the 31's..but do they make really beffy lookin ones?..right now im lookin at bf goodritch and bridgestone duler revo's..good choice's?

Same Colour as Mine?

Fhantazm,
Yours is white, mine is Evergreen (light) almost like Spruce green...so yeah, nearly same colour as mine!! LOL! Beefy?? I have the GoodYear ATS tread (31" of course) and I think they look beefy enough...but I think the Goodrich has even a tougher look...but I didn't want to get too carried away, I still want a smooth ride, and the GY ATS certainly is smooth and reasonably quiet. Bring on some more pics!
Cheers, PolarBlueIce

Actually Ak LTD Xplorer made that statement about the color. :-)

Oops - Colour, Ak LTD Explorer?

Hey Ak LTD Xplorer,

So what colour is yours?
Thanks Fhantazm for helping me read the board...I sometimes could not figure out who's who, what's what...damn good thing I don't work on cars! (or computers).

Here is a better picture of mine that I took over the weekend Polar...

It's funny because I've never seen my color on an XLT before. Only Limited's and Mounty's. Oh, and Windstar's...

Same Colour - Ford's Best Greens!

AK LTD XPLORER ... mine IS the same colour as yours. My friend at work has the same model & year as you (the Limited edition). I'll check the inside door panel, but if I recall, yes, "FE" does sound familiar.

DAVE...yours is the later year colour--ours is Evergreen Frost, yours is "Spruce" ... the Evergreen Frost is found on XL, XLT, Eddie Bauer & Limited (in 1998-1999). When the Evergreen Frost first came out (1996), is was ONLY on the Limited edition in 1996 & 1997. Then in 1998 the poor folks like us rebelled against Ford, so they made this Evergreen Frost available on XL and XLT, but NOT on the Eddie Bauer for some reason. The Evergreen Frost came out for 1998, 1999, and the Spruce came out 1999 and later--and Spruce became available on XLT, Eddie Bauer, and Limited, but NOT on the cheapest XL version (like mine).

I love the new pic of your Spruce XLT Dave. I am often wondering if I prefer the Evergreen or the Spruce...anyway, after all this frivolous nonsense chat about colour, when really, it's BIG TIRES that counts, these are the two best colours Ford has put together!

Pic for ya:

No lift, stock rims, 31x10.5-15 BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA K/O tires

So Beautiful!!

Ak LTD Xplorer...
I'm glad you posted your pic as an inline image instead of a URL ... now I can drool in front of my computer screen. Geeze that green X is so beautiful...and so clean I'd almost lick it! Enough on the colour already...it's just perfect. And a 1996 year? Looks like you bought it yesterday! That's what I like about X's ... they age so well. Mine is 1998 and it drives just like I drove it off the lot yesterday...still nice and tight and quiet. Even some of the older ones (1991, 1993) still look good! I'm not as keen on the 2002, 2003 models though...too low, small tires, no clearance (yawn). Anyway, that colour is coming back to haunt me...not sure if yours is the most beautiful or Dave's... that Spruce Green XLT with the real tuff looking front bumper! But Todd's is a very nice green too...I think he call's is Medium Willow...migod, I'm going crazy...keeping colours straight, keeping all you guys straight and who owns what truck, what colour...I've probably got it all wrong now...gonna have to start all over again!

You're welcome, and thank you.

I'll let them know you said hi :)

yeah my im going to be getting a 98-01 front bumper(or paint my stock one all the same green) hatch 99-01 heatch and 99-01 limited fender flair's so it will look like a 2001..yep it's a 96..

i picked my tires out todaY!!!! 31x10.5-15 BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA K/O's gonna have them mounted some time this week..$458 mounted to the rim's..they are gonna look awsome!!

the pic is with 28's and 4" of lift..and my wheel well's painted

Bumper Swap

Ak LTD Xplorer,

Changing your bumper? Cool! I want Dave's bumper (dmasini) -- I wonder if that's possible and how costly. But what about the fog lamps that are in that bumper...I wonder how that would be wired into my XL model? But it certainly is a much nicer looking bumper than my $5.00 worth of cheap plastic hanging down!!

Your wheel wells are painted? All the more green to cover you with!!

4" of lift already? I never noticed, but after looking at the pic again closer (besides just the green) I now see that there is a fair bit of space in the upper wheel well above the tire (compared to mine). Post more pics when you get the new 31" tires mounted!!

Here in Canada, I had to pay $1002.00 to get 4 of the GoodYear 31"x10.50 tires! (but $500 USD = about $700 or $750 CAD).
