I've got to remark on the community you have here, as I am impressed. I have been working on my girlfriends 98 explorer trying to overcome this check engine light so that it would pass inspection. I am impressed by the willingness of members to offer assistance, and how good the Signal to noise ratio is. I am personally an IROC buff... and wish that my community was as willing to offer up the hand of help. I am grateful for the information i've found thus far.

So the story..

99 explorer, cant pass inspection due to a check engine light that has been on for atleast a year. My autoxray scanner shows " P0153" which coincides with what the inspection guy said. I've done the homework, and I am aware of a few things .
- I know that its a slow respone from O2 sensor bank 2 sensor 1 .
- I know the truck has 4 O2 sensors
- I know that its the sensors before the cats
- I know not to trust the part numbers at autozone and checker as the conflict (I found the correct part at Bosch's website)

What I need to know..... Is Bank 2 sensor 1 the Passenger side or Driver side?

I've seen this link, but im afraid it does not make sense to me. Furthermore, the various threads i've seen thus far are contradicting each other.. some saying its the driver side, others indicating its the passenger side?

Also, would resetting the computer (disconnect the pos battery cable for some time) serve the same purpose as clearing the CEL with the autoxray ?
I've cleared the codes a few times since I first acted on the problem and they keep coming back.

Can I offer any additional information that will help in this situation, and can anyone answer that question "Which is it, passenger or driver? "

Thanks in advance for any help
