P0153 code

I am a new member and i have a small problem. (bet you never herd that one)
My P0153 code got lead me to my fuel pressure. When I put the gauge to it, she read 57lbs at an idle. What do you think? I think its too high. Is the only thing that would cause this the fuel regulator? The truck runs great,other than the LIGHT. What do you all think??

IMO it sounds like you already solved your own problem. 57 PSI is a little too high and it sounds to me like it's the fuel pressure regulator. I would just make sure that the vacuum line to the FPR is intact and connected because that could cause the high pressure reading.

thanks I had been thinking about that. I think I'll buy some vac line and replace it and check it again before I spend the 110.00 on the regutator. Thanks for the info....

I just noticed that you have a 99, do you know if the FPR on your truck is located in the tank? At some point Ford moved the FPR to the tank and changed the set up to a returnless system (not sure what year but I think it was 99). If this is the type of set up you have than the pressure is actually OK and the FPR may not be bad. Are you sure you have the that code right? P0153 is a bad oxygen sensor (Bank 2 Sensor 1)....

I was going to respond until "71cutty455" did about this code. Yes, it's an oxygen sensor code, mine came on for a few days then now its off, the code reader said "slow response" does this mean I need to change the O2 sensor?

If you have a compressor, you dont need to buy new lines (well possibly). Turn your outlet preasure way down. Use one of the air spraying tools, and spray each end. You probably should take off both ends though.

I did, it was about $45 dollars at autozone and took about 10 minutes to swap it. Very simple and it has helped my gas mileage (also cleaned the MAF at the same time.)

It's probably in the exact same place as mine since I have a 98 5.0... I'll try to take a pic later or tomorrow but it's on the driver's side exhaust pipe ahead of the catalytic converter, If you just slide under the vehicle under the driver's door with your head behind the front wheel you'll be staring right at it. Probably the only one easily visable from looking under the driver's side of the vehicle and I didn't even have to jack up the vehicle to change it. I just let the vehicle warm up for just a minute or two to expand the exhaust pipe and after some cussing and swearing it came loose.
