During my last round of service, while I had to replace my FI manifold (note - don’t put pressure on its intake connection when servicing the coolant hoses around the thermostat housing - that TIG welded joint springs leaks easily, and the stock part isn’t carried by Ford anymore) - I also decided to finally install the ruthenium plugs I’d bought a while back and replace all the coil packs (good thing I planned on that, as the lack of dielectric grease on the old ones meant that they were all pretty stuck, only one came off clean, and I discovered all sorts of nifty shortcuts for pulling shredded silicon boot material off of the plugs)
I used some inexpensive Amazon generic coil packs, and when finished I had open primary codes on Coil A & B (p353&p352).
So I ordered a whole new set of coils, and when swapped out the Coil A code disappeared, however I have tried swapping out all of the remaining 5 and I am still getting a p352 error from coil packs B.
My diagnostics so far:
1) Per the factory manual I verified that both power & ground connections were solid,
2) bought and installed a Noid Light into the connector and while running it seems to be flashing at the appropriate rate indicating that the firing signal SHOULD be going to the coil.
3) tried swapping the B coil with the C coil (thinking if it was a bad coil that of course the error would move), but after doing that the error remained P352, open primary on the B coil pack.
4) I bought a spark plug tester and even made sure that the plug was firing fine, it seems to be, and even narrowed the gap just a bit (there was a discrepancy between the .9ish gap in the factory service manual and the 1.5mm gap I had found elsewhere, and which the old plugs seemed to be gapped to).
Still however I continue to get the same code.
So I am turning to the vastly more expensive folks here to see if y’all have any ideas on what I can try next or thoughts on what may be going on.
Thanks for getting this far
