P0443 & p0403

Ford Explorer 2010 V6 4x4

3 weeks ago check engine light came on, P0443, tought it was the solenoid located next to the brake master cylinder, ordered the part. While Waiting for it and clearing the code every 2 days the P0403 (EGR Valve) also came on. When the solenoid arrived I replaced it. The problem persists, P0403 & P0443. Truck drives like a champ, no issues beside the check engine light and the 2 codes. Now the check engine light comes on the same day I clear it.

Ideas please.

Did you change the whole egr module? The one on the back of the intake with a tube going to the exhaust and a few vac lines? The hardest part is the tube from the exhaust. I wouldn't keep driving like this. The engine I pulled out of my 04 had these codes from the previous owner for years and he kept driving it. The inside of the engine was pretty nasty and I think this played a part.

That´s next. I yet have to get a 1 1/16 wrench to take of the tube.

About the P0443, it turns out that it could very much be the vapor canister vent valve not the tank vent valve which I replaced. Too bad, the part I replaced costs 27 bucks, the canister valve 100.

You can use a large adjustable wrench if all else fails. Once you get it broken free from the EGR valve, the rest is fairly easy. I recommend taking off the throttle body as well prior to doing the EGR. This will give better access and also allow you to clean it. When these electric throttle bodies get gummed up around where the butterflies close, the idle is affected and the throttle can stick. Every one I have pulled off has been nasty in that area and a quick blast of carb cleaner while holding it open makes things better.

I was just at it, yes I took off the TB. The damn tube won´t brake lose even with a rubber mallet. I´ve soaked it with WD40, no luck, I´ll let it soak overnight and try tomorrow if not have the help of a friend mechanic.

Hello I have a similar problem with my 2010. The check engine light was on and error codes P0403 & P0443. I replaced the valve and the issue still persists. I'm not sure what is the solution but according to my mechanic he told me nothing is wrong with the car and I have to live with the light on. I have asked also one of my friend who has also 2009 explorer and he told me that it might be a computer issue. I have googled the error codes and one You tube file show also the possibility to have a faulty computer. I'm not sure what tests can be done to confirm it is computer issue
