02 Explorer LTD.
Vehicle is a 2002 "X" 4.6l 4x4

I got the CEL this weekend and went to have the code pulled. "BBDPFE circuit low voltage detected"

So i assume the place to start is with the sensor? I pulled mine off and its part number 2F1E-9J460-AB however auto zone and oreilleys were unable to cross reference. They did look it up by make, model etc. and had one ($29.99) but it does not look the same. I called the ford dealer and the part number checked but they want $76.40 for one there!

Is there anything i should check before replacing it? What part should i use? Anyone have experience with this issue?

Napsterstang,
They have changed the DPFE sensor a few times tying to get it right. The Ford one is a good one and rockauto.com carries Airtex. I talked to Airtex last week and was told that the version of DPFE they are on now has been trouble free for a year and a half. I don't know what autozone sells, but from what I've read only a few aftermaket ones are of any good.

Thanks - maybe ill call around and look for that brand or the ford one. If all else fails ill order off of rock auto and get a few other things also. Was hoping to get one sooner though without coating the dealers pockets. I already did that this weekend on my altima:thumbdwn:

Just got mine in for my 97 and my cousins 00 Ranger.

I got a ford one coming from Rock auto. Do you have to clear the code on the 02 Explorers or will it clear itself once your run it and the problem is corrected? If it needs to be cleared do you need a code reader or can you just dis-connect the battery?

Thanks for the help.

It will clear itself, but you can remove the battery cable and it'll clear it as well.

I put mine on the 97 last night and it's being driven by the wife today, hopefully codes won't return.

Thanks all.... My truck didn't pass the smog test today. Oil Stop ran a code check and came up with P1400. I will have the EDR valve checked to make sure it isn't clogged and if that isn't the culprit I will have the DPFE sensor replaced.
