Ok so I found this on here.

REcently purchased a 1998 Explorer Sport with 85K miles. The CEL came on that had a code for a vague problem with the Catalytic Converter. I cleaned everything with Throttle cleaner. That code did not reappear, but I did get another CEL with a P1506 code, indicating a bad Idle Air Control valve. I replaced the IAC valve with a new one, but the code (P1506) reappeared with in 10 miles. Any ideas what else to look out for ? Thanks.
potentially a vacuum leak problem resulting in higher than normal idle which the IAC then can't correct.

That the same thing thats going on with me. I had the code pop up the first time and cleared it never poped back up for almost a year. Cleared it again then it came back a week later. Cleared it again then it came back 5 miles down the road. I replaced the part with one off a 1998 explorer that never throw that code. It throw the code again cleared it and it was good for another week and now its back. What do you all think?:salute:Cheers

...Have you tried cleaning the IAC and what did you use for a new gasket??

I would check for any vacuum leaks and any air leaks around the throttle body and air cleaner area first.

If this is ok, unplug the IAC and see if it stops this. If it does,it is probably the IAC ..:dunno:

If its unpluged it still does it. I have cleaned the IAC and the gaskets are A-ok :) Vacuum might be a possibility. After hitting that tree something might has happened, but you think it would have done it right away? My truck is getting the core support replated right now. So I can't really look, so next Wednesday I will put it into a garage to put my black headlight back in and to take a look and see if me and Russ can find the problem. Also got to fix the miles they have not counted up for a long time haha so I got a bit to do to it anyways.
