With my Project truck I am going to Paint the both the frame and engine bay. I am looking for the most durable paint to paint this part of the Truck. I want some thing that woud be easy to clean. some thing I can do my self is a plus also.

and look at the restoration link for the products POR-15, Blackcote, and Chassiscote Black

POR-15 ® chemically bonds to rusted steel to form a rock-hard, non-porous coating that won't crack chip, or peel. It works by isolating metal from moisture. Without moisture present, steel can't rust.

Powder coat the frame. When you paint the frame you waiste a lot of paint and you can't get down in the cracks like powder coating does.
You can also get many colors if you are trying to match the body.
The biggest thing is to make sure it is CLEAN!!! before you paint it. More then likely it has lots of oil and grease on it. You might even have it sand blasted first.

Perry,

Powder coating is what I wanted to do but there is one problem. there is no one local that does powder coating, and I want it done with out the suspention in the Truck.

I have only one word TRAILER

I thought it was just going to be the frame. If you have any parts on it then I think that makes it a lot harder to do, but I don't powder coat so I don't know. I just know paint will come off a lot easier.

Perry I am not taking the frame off the X. That is more that I want to tackle for a off-road truck. Most other parts I might send off for the powder coat. I really just need some thing for the Frame it self that I can do at home for Cheap. The whole front end is comming out along with the Rear I might be Sticking a Dana 60 in the Rear And I am Going to install new leaf Springs at the same time.

If you are looking for cheap Kris, then just hit the frame with a wire brush in your angle grinder. Then spray with Black Rustoleum (in the gloss of your choice, I like flat). That will be cheap, and very easy to touch up the battle scars on.

I going to start a similar project on my 69 caddy. Paint the rear frame rails, gas tank and floor. I going to go with the Por15 product line. I’ve gotten some very good recommendations about them. All I’m going to do is clean the grease off, hit with a wire brush and paint with a brush.

Well I have heard nothing but good stuff about that POR-15.

The other option is to just sand/grind/smooth out the whole frame, paint it with herculiner! :D
