I have a 94 Explorer XLT; I believe the name of the color is Opal Gray (at least that is what it's called in the 94 factory brochure. I am wanting to find some spray paint to match, like Duplicolor. I looked on the drivers door for the paint code, and I'm not sure which number is the paint code. It is either
J6 or 56. Neither of these seem to be a valid code in the Duplicolor paint listings. Am I looking in the wrong place, or is my paiint color no longer available or what? Thanks in advance for your help.

Try taking your X to an automotive paint supply store and ask them if they can help you determine the color code. If the color is not currently available from Dupilacolor most jobbers (the paint store) can provide you with a spray can of the color you are looking for.

The names for the colors that Dupli-color uses aren't the same as the names Ford used in the catalog/brochure to describe them.
Most auto parts stores carry Dupli-color or Plasti-kote spray paint thats color matched for vehicles, but they sure don't carry many Ford colors. You can try looking in their catalog at the store by the paint and asking if they can order it, but usually they don't have it, can't order it, and you're stuck choosing the closest color from what they have in stock. You can probably get a pretty close match, but it might not be exact, depending how picky you are.

Thanks for your feedback. I'll find a local paint supplier and try your advice. I have some Lund hood scoops that I want to put on, but want to paint them first to match. Happy New Year to all!

;) I took your advice, and went to NAPA's main warehouse in Denver. Duplicolor does not offer paint for my truck, however, their paint department was able to mix/match my paint and put it in spray cans. Thanks again for your help and involvement to find solution to my problem!
