IMO a waste of money. Especially with the name "FRAM" on it.

I've heard good things about the Amsoil air filters. They are suppose to out flow K&N.

Possibly, but how close to $15 are they in price?

I guess my question should have been, "how are these 2 in comparison to a in-box paper filter?"

I stick with Motorcraft as much as possible. Im in the automotive parts industry and have met with the Motorcraft reps and have seen first hand the differences between the aftermarket filters( some very slight some pretty major). Motorcraft has patents on the parts for your ford the aftermarkt can only make parts so similer to the original without violating patent laws so they dont always fit right or function correctally. I'm all about moding my X but when it comes to filters and parts Motorcraft is the only way I will go.

In that case go with Motorcraft as Alaskanredneck stated or a WIX.

FRAM & STP filters are on the same level.

Really you are better off going with a reuseable filter. True it's more money up front but after 3 filter changes a K&M or the Amsoil will pay for itself.
