Part 1 of HID install Done

Got my DDM Tuning kit installed Sunday, 8k 35W kit and it's plenty Bright. Will be putting the Fog Lights in Saturday.

Thanks, the only hard part of the install was the Driver's side. Had to take the battery out as that side would not go in any way we tried. Hope the Fog lights won't be to hard of a install. But I will post pictures once I get them done.

The fog lights are a B-word. I really didnt notice a way to get mine in the stock housings with the stock "retainer."

I ended up using some 60 sec. epoxy to get the bulb in there and hold it, then some weatherproof silicon all around the edge of the base to make a watertight seal.

Ive washed my truck numerous times now (15+) and still have yet to get any condensation, or anything in there. The only problem im having is my defective ballast not firing the bulb now.


ALSO, I would reccomend a lower temperature set in the fogs. I had both 10,000k, and 8,000k and they were both absolutely terrible when the roads were wet. Might as well have been driving with my lights off. (I have 8k in my fogs now, and when I get my new housings, ill be putting a 5000k set in them)

are the H1's a ***** to install?? I installed a set of 880 bulbs on my friends 97 and it was cake

Depends on what your putting them in. They fit in my old projectors pretty easy, a little snug but all went well, but the way the bulbs are in the fogs on our Ex'es doesnt work unless you fashion something custom up. In my case, I chose Epoxy, and silicon to seal it and have had great results for the last month.

I have a feeling it may be the same way as my car, where you have to cut the stock connector and slip the bulb in snug.... Ugh

Those of you with the 35w HID kits... Do you wish you had the 55's? I am undecided which ones to buy. Also, did anyone get the harness with their kit? Finally, do you need to get the error eliminator? Thanks.

Well I got to try and put the Fog Light hid's in. Calls for a H1 Bulb so that is what I ordered. Well the bulb that I have is a 9145 with a H1 Bulb attachment. So I contacted the company I got them from. They said I should have the hook style lock to hold the bulb in. But My fog light bulb just push in and turn to lock in place. So not sure which type of Bulb I need to get so they will fit the way mine does now. It has all the Factory plugs going to it, so not sure if it's a aftermarket housing. I have been told ford would do something like this and makes it hard to find a right bulb needed when upgrading like this. If anybody has came across this and got the right HID bulb, I would like to know what I need to swap my H1 kit out with.

Upon further research just now. I believe I have the 02 style fog light housings after looking at them compared to what the 99 style looks like. So I am going to go and get a 9145 bulb and see if it fits in the housing. If so, I will send my H1 kit back for a 9145 kit.

Thats what I meant, the normal H1 bulbs have a bar that usually just locks on top of them but our fogs have the twist base. Im not sure what (If any) HID bulb will have an OEM like fit.

Legendary-I have had about 5 35w kits, and have been satisfied with most of them, and told myself my next kit would be a 55w, but I made an impulse buy on my newest kit and just got the 35w kit. I have always had 8-10,000k so they havent been amazingly bright, but this 35w kit is a 5k, so if im not satisfied then im gonna order a 55w kit and throw the 5k's in my fogs.

Well I found a way for them to fit. If it don't work I'm only out the cost of the kit. I found a few rubber washers to keep the bulb from hitting the reflector on the inside. So I used some High Temp. RTV silicone to attach it then put the bulb into that and sealed it all in that way. The bulb is not going to move once it's all setup. So I am doing some hillbilly engineering on this one. I can always clean out the housing of RTV silicone and put a regular bulb back in if this don't work. Won't know how it's going to work until tomorrow after the silicone has setup.

Well we got the HID's installed yesterday. They are damn near bright enough to drive with just them and not the headlights. Picture doesn't do them any justice. They didn't come out good with the iPhone.

I rarely drive with my headlights on now that I have HIDs in my fogs. I usually only turn the headlights on when im on the highway, or the roads arent clear, etc.

I cant wait to get my 5000k's installed on my new projectors and see how that looks.
