like the lock locks just fine and I can unlock it no problem, but when I hit the button to power lock it, about 50% of the time it just moves a bit but doesn't lock. Any ideas?

Almost always comes down to a faulty lock actuator or door latch. When using an armrest switch does it ever make a buzzing or whirring sound? If so that's the sound of slipping nylon gears inside the actuator motor. Also check for a small broken spring inside the door latch. One way or another you'll need to remove the inner door panel to inspect and repair. Only one bolt and wiring clip holding the window run channel for better visibility and access. Use a flashlight and small mirror to inspect. Check for disconnected latch rods or broken plastic rod clips. I've replaced two front latches and all four actuators in my first six years of ownership. Door locks are not one of Ford's strengths. Glad to help if needed. Good luck.
