PCM update

Well I just call my ford dealer and said I wanted a PCM update, he told me it would cost $89 but I would be wasting my money if there was not anything to update. So he asked for my serial number and told me he would call back. When he did he said there was nothing to update, he said there was no tsb's for my X so it would be a waste of time and money. I got my 03 in 05 and have never taken it to a ford dealership, does this sound right?, lots of people on this forum with 03's have got updates. I called some other dealerships and they said bring it in and we will check to see if you need one but now I'm wondering if I'll just be wasting money.

i remember somewhere there was a link to look up what year the recall was and other info just cant find it now

on that page use the search function and type pcm i think theres 2 for your year maybe?

Yes I saw those updates that's why I wanted to get it done, but ford is telling me I have the update just by looking at my serial #. I guess I'm more interested in if the dealership can really tell by looking at my serial #. But I can't see those money suckers turning away $90, then again I was just talking to the mechanic not the CEO.
