I was changing out my PCV valve today and i noticed that it just slides out without twisting. I stuck my finger inside to find the clips that are supposed to be there and they are worn almost smooth. My question I guess is how serious a problem can that be? Will it affect operation down the road? Everything is running fine now.

V6 4.0 SOHC

No, you should be fine. If your concerned about it though, grab a tube of RTV Black and put a sliiiight ring around it up near the top of the PCV so you can pick it out when it dries if you should ever need to replace it, and stick it back in, she'll stay in there then!

Thanks for the info. One less thing to worry about.

I just changed the PCV in my 4.6 for the first time, and noticed the same thing. The PCV just sits loosely in the hole. The replacement I bought was flush on the sides and didn't even have any grooves to twist/lock in.

Should be fine!
