I have a '03 Explorer 4.0 V6 with PCV on backside of valve cover on drivers side.

I find sometimes that I have a little oil leaking out of the pcv where it goes into the valve cover and runs down the valve cover...is this normal?

I took the pcv valve out and reinstalled it, and when fully seated, it rocks a little if you pull back and forth on it thus giving room for oil to blow by sometimes.

The rubber o-ring gasket is there, and the pcv is 30k old.

I realize this is an old post but you’ve described exactly what I see in my 03 explorer xlt 4.0
Seems a poor design. Even with a new motorcraft valve it’s still loose.
Maybe a slightly larger oring would be better?
I wonder how much a leak it would take to possibly affect idle rpms
Just trying to figure this out on a 230k bucket
