I have a 4.0 SOHC and am looking at replacing the pcv valve. Is this a three way valve? My valve is connected at the top with a T to two hoses which go to opposite sides of the intake manifold. Is the bottom of the valve body supposed to go in the hose below? Mine is disconnected and i tried pushing the valve body into the hose but gave up--man there is no room back there to even see--I'm feeling around as it is.... Anyone done this lately?

Was going to but the sucker is way down the fire wall....maybe im thinking of the EGR valve.

I figured it out myself! Yes, of course the valve is supposed to be connected at the bottom to the hose which comes up from directly below. My valve had somehow pulled out of the hose. After using a mirror and a flashlight to see what they heck was going on back there, I was able to push the valve back on to the hose by feel and secure it with the plastic hose clamp-like thing which was back there. My actual valve wasn't blocked and didn't need replacement. I also cleaned the MAF sensor and after disconnecting the battery for ten minutes to reset the computer took the X out for a spin. WOW it really runs great now; no more vacuum leak through the disconnected pcv and a clean sensor = happy X! I seem to have way more power now as the engine will rev up nice now, it wouldn't really go much above 3K before. I've only had the truck for a few weeks and it ran fine before, I've been getting 17mpg as it is. Sure glad I took the time to check out the condition of the valve in the first place!
