ps-anybody else interested???

where's uwharrie or tellico? never heard of those places. are they by raleigh? there would probably be at least one other person interested in this excursion. he lives in wilmington as well. we need to rally more people though. there are several people here from nc.

YES! finnaly people in North Carolina that want to go four wheeling. Hey man I live about an hour from badin lake and uwharrie and I go to uwharrie all the time. I would love to get a group together this summer to go out there for a couple days or somthing that would rock. I live in east charlotte, and if anyone else lives in my area I would love to talk to you to find out if you know anywhere good to go fourwheelin. You can instant message me anytime at fumanchewit. I know a few decent places around here to go but Id love to know where some more are. Oh yea where is tellico?

Count me in

yet another

I too am in NC. I am over at Ft. Bragg. Unfortunately I wont be able to do anything this summer. There is a thread somewhere in here for the Carolina Explorer Club. You guys are not the only ones that want to run in NC. Hopefully I can do some stuff when after this summer.

That sucks that you can't do anything this summer KSpride. When duty calls, you gotta be there... totally understandable. I just got a research grant for this summer and I will be working weekdays from June 1st until July 31st. Weekends, or sometime in May after the 15th would be killer to get a group of people to go out around the carolinas. Hey bluethunder, can you tell us where uwharrie or tellico is? Thanks.

yep i can help ya with that- uwharrie national forest is southwest of asheboro about 30 miles, its due east of albemarle. tellico is in the nantahala national forest up in the mountains. tellico is on the nc/tn border near a town called troy in cherokee county. id love to get a group of explorers up to uwharrie sometime, its a really great place to wheel. blue steel, fumanchew, rob would you guys be interested in that?
-jonathan

sorry.....uwharrie is near a town called troy, and tellico is right near murphy...my knock.

Im in Raleigh, however i have a job in houston for the summer. Lemme know if yall want to do anything in the fall.

i'm game to head up to uwharrie national forest. how far is that from raleigh, do you know bluethunder. I could then make a guestimate at how much driving i would need to do to get there. It would have to be around the last two weeks in May though. Don't know if everyone is off of school/college by then. If not during then, then maybe during weekend, all depending on how much of a drive it is.

the drive from raleigh is between 2 and 3 hours, depending a lot on traffic really. last time we left at like 4:30 on a friday afternoon from raleigh, and it took us a good 3 hours without stopping, and then comin back we left early sunday afternoon, stopped to eat lunch and we got back in 2 hours 15 minutes including the lunch stop. as long as you leave early afternoon, traffic isnt bad, but since we left so late we hit work traffic on 64 west. its not a bad drive, from here you just get on 64 west, hit highway 49, and then get on highway 109, takes you right to uwharrie basically. i think we oughta definately go up there.

here is the link I was talking about.

hey hopefully this link works. I dont know enough about this site to know any better.....

good deal bluethunder. i thought it would be a longer drive, but i can definately do 3 hours plus the 2 i need to get to raleigh. all we need now is some people to come with us. anyone interested let me know. i'll see if i can round up a couple peeps around wilmington.

by the way, in case i forgot to mention it, the 2-3 hour time is the drive to uwharrie and not tellico, tellico would be more like 5 or 6 hours from raleigh.

i live in goldsboro

i would be very interested in some good day trip locations i could go to and get in some mud

as far as a trip out west right now the air force (and my wallet)
say denied resubmit in 30 days for further disapproval

but that would be really cool

anywhere from raleigh to wilmington would be a good place
as long as its legal

I'm not from NC, but...

I am from Rocky Mount, VA. Not too far from the north west border of NC. Where geographically are the places you guys are talking about located? I might could make it if you guys don't mind a VA boy tagging along.

Hey everyone!
Im in Cary. Id be interested in going as soon as I can get some tires.

hey. welcome to the site 92explorerguy. yob_yeknom, the more the merrier in my opinion. just hope you like to drive a bit :) right now i'm working full time until the end of july, so sometime in the first couple weeks in august would be killer. can anyone else go wheeling in that time frame? it would be awesome if we could get a descent size group to represent explorers. just let me know.
