I have poured over numerous posts, old and new and not being the wrench that some of you are I am definately confused. I can build a house but I just don't grasp all this technical mechanical stuff plus my tools are limited.

Anyway, I want to improve the torque and horsepower of my 02 STrac while also gaining gas mileage improvement (15+- mpg). I've read many of Aldive's posts as well as others but am unceratin what I should do.

I already use synthetic fluids, run tires at 40LB and had a mild shift kit installed. My plan was to add an intake (which one???), a cat back exhaust (Gibson???) but then what? Which ones, etc????

I really would appreciate your help. :us:

I will be driving to Myrtle Beach for BikeWeek and want to have it all done soon. I'll need some boost to get my STrac moving with the trailer and bike. I will need to watch what I spend cause the real estate biz is dead right now. Big time!!!!

More Power

I have a 04 Sport Trac and just added a Bamachips x3 tune with 3 tunes I ordered a 87 performance a 89 torque and a 91 torque I have only used the 87 for the last 2 weeks but can say what a difference in power, shifting and some increased gas mileage. Can't say enough is well worth the money.
I too have done the tires electric fan and a K&N air filter with silencer removed from air box.

Good Luck:thumbsup:

I am fond of the Mac intake. As far as exhaust, I suggest picking the muffler of your choice and then have your local muffler shop custom make the cat back piping.

A computer tune is also highly recommended.

Do you have an e fan? Underdrive pulley(s)?

Good luck ....

I had a tune-up last year but was thinking about changing to a performance plug and possibly new wires.

No I don't have the under/over-drive pulleys. I've read thru your posts regarding this but this really sails over my head. If I recall correctly this affected the motor temps??? I'm not sure what to do here but your posts make this seem real interesting. Perhaps you can elaborate so a dumb azz (me) :) can understand.

Areodyamics? I have the front tow hooks so I don't think the air-dam will work but I love the look.

What else could I do? Programmer, if so which 1?

I want to make a real statement with what I do. Thanks :us:

Hey Aldive...about the under drive pulleys... doesn't that compromise your engines support systems... IE coolant, power steering, and braking?

Not significantly.

I have UDPs on my daily driver with no problems whatsoever.

Well, My X is my DD also, however I Tend to leave town a lot...long drives etc...any problems there?

No problems at all. I routinely make 1000 mile round trips to Atlanta.

I consider UDPs the best bang for the buck mod that one can make.

MN Al, I'm reading you're earlier Write up...Thanx man...

REALLY?? thats farther than I usually drive... Thanx
