Sounds like a box of "Snake Oil" to me.

I had my 98 (5.0) done on a dyno by an SCT dealer.

Massive change.

It cost more but it's worth it in my opinion.

nobody can claim HP gains without first saying what engine... 30hp is a big deal depending on engine size.... gasoline engines dont take to kindly like diesels do... so tuners cant add nowhere as much... and with out adding to the top RPM limits HP is hard to come by... 30 extra on an engine that only makes 180 is a large percent.... its not like taking a 400hp v8 and adding another 100hp... the 4.0 sohc stock would never last with a 25-30% increase without major bottom/top end upgrades

so with that being said I should stay away from it?

No amount of tuning will net you 30hp on either the 4.0 or 4.6L unless it's accompanied by many other modifications. You don't see gains like that from tuning alone unless you're doing it on a vehicle with forced induction.

This thing is a scam through and through. There are even posts where you can find the internal circuitry. It's nothing more than 2 resistors.

I have done lots of research on chips and most of them are fake, they splice into the air temp sensor and tell your computer it is cold out so the computer will richen the fuel mixture which will give you a little more power but does not help your MPG.

Other then the 3-4 hundred dollar computers on the market, the only thing I have found that does help is the VOLO chip sold by Volo Performance Inc. for less than $100 on ebay. I installed one of their performance chips in my '99 F250 LD 5.4L V8 and it made a significant difference (depending on the quality of the gas used). With regular gas the improvements were mild but when I went to premium the performance increase was dramatic.

I am in the process of installing a gas mileage chip in my 07 Explorer now.

Let me know how that goes with the 07 I can't keep affording 65 a week on a gas, and and I'm trying to save to fix my bike up.
